Puss in Boots - 2015

Traditional panto at its rambunctious and noisy best! This marks the 9th year that The Royal Canadian Theatre Company has presented its own brand of this hugely entertaining theatrical treat and the Company not only welcomes three generations of fans, brings audience members in from all over Canada, but even has people calling from the UK to book tickets for family members living here in BC – a ringing endorsement if ever there was one!

This year’s story takes place in France during the rule of King Pom Pom of Pomerania. Young Colin Miller has dreams of slaying a dragon and marrying a princess but unfortunately all he can do is dream: his mother’s mill is falling down and the family – has no food, no money and no prospects. BUT there is a cat and a whole lot of magic …… Can Colin convince the princess to marry him? Will he be stopped by the king’s evil sister and her little dog too? And what about that HUGE Ogre………..?

The world of fairy tales comes dazzlingly to life as RCTC fills the stage to overflowing with spectacular special effects, dazzling costumes and scenery, toe-tapping music, heart-stopping fights, over-the-top performances and hilarious comedy for the whole family – not just the kids!

Featuring all your favourite panto people and introducing some new faces (the youngest is three the oldest 78!), this is THE show to see over the holiday season.

You'll get his trademark wit, with ectoplasm and ghosts ('My wife's funeral exhausted her!').

Luke Jones

Blithe Spirit

Noel Coward wrote Blithe Spirit as a distraction during World War II and it’s the perfect comedic distraction for our own troubled times.

Chloe Kerr

Mousetrap

...the succession of neatly plotted twists and the final unexpected reveal create a well-oiled comedy.

We were in the audience @surreyartscentre last night. The play was thoroughly delightful. You were your always talented and artistic self and the audience loved you for it. We went home and checked out the 1949 Blithe Spirit movie with Margaret Rutherford. So wonderful to be back at live theatre. Thank you to all who made this happen.
