COVID-19 Precautions

The Royal Canadian Theatre Company will be following Provincial Health guidelines with the following approaches:

  1.  Practising Social Distancing:
    • All seating in the green room will be socially distanced.
    • There are physically distanced circles in the actual audition room for you to keep your distance for yourself or if auditioning with a partner.
  2. Using the Outdoors:
    • Because people will be congregated in our green room, we will be opening our garage door to give more space and fresh air to all applicants.
  3.  Masks and hand sanitizer:
    • We do recommend everyone coming to the audition wears a mask in the green room as that will be the busiest area.
    • We have both hand sanitizer and an area to wash your hands whenever needed.
  4. VACCINATIONS:
    • As per public health guidelines as well as venue policy, we are only able to cast actors who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
    • Actors will be required to provide proof of vaccination before commencing work.

Vinny Keats

Vinny Keats

Keats is a classically trained actor and vocalist. Most recently his focus has been on camera work, starring in the independent film, Clay Pots, as well as appearing in a few national commercials.

Before that he has entertained live audiences as Sky in Mamma Mia; Beast in Beauty and the Beast; and Iago/Romeo in Goodnight Desdemona, Goodmorning Juliet; just to name a few. Vinny is also a gymnast; you may have caught him flipping his way across the stage in Disney’s Newsies.

Vinny studied at The Canadian College of Performing Arts in Victoria B.C. After graduation, he moved to Vancouver and sought out Jenny Anderson and Peter Jorgensen to further train his voice and continues to study acting at McIlroy and Associates. Vinny is looking forward to coming back to the theatre after more than 2 years away. This pandemic-imposed break has allowed him to re-discover his love for the craft that hooked him into this “rotten biz” in the first place.

“I was drawn to the role of Charlie and this show because it truly is the story of most actors. I see so many parallels in my own life and I want to thank Ellie for giving me the chance to reflect them.”

Crystal Weltzin is excited to work with the Royal Canadian Theatre company again, this time to play Girl in “Eat Your Heart Out”. She is incredibly excited for this new opportunity and happy to be acting in light of the difficulties COVID-19 has brought to all of our lives.
You may have seen Crystal as Queen of Hearts: “Alice in Wonderland” (RCTC), Fluellen: “Henry V” (Pacific Theatre), Benvolio: “Romeo and Juliet” (Shadows and Dreams Theatre Co), writing “Annual Couples Debate” or writing/directing “Something Borrowed, Everyone Blue”.
She would also like to thank her fiancé for his endless patience during this process. Stay safe, and enjoy the show!
